3D Printing: Important Considerations Before You Design or Print

3D printing always involves certain risks. Here’s a list of essential information to keep in mind before designing or sending your files for 3D printing

Proper preparation minimizes risks, but failed prints can still happen. During our consultation, we’ll explain potential issues and necessary adjustments. If you choose to proceed without making these changes, any resulting costs will be billed. Costs are based on time and materials used.

Drawing programs often have their own limitations, which can result in issues like holes in the mesh or file. These problems may lead to unrecognized prints or missing elements. I can provide feedback on how to fix your models, and I also have software that can assist with some repairs. However, its capabilities are limited, and I cannot guarantee that every part will print successfully. Ultimately, the responsibility for the final design lies with you.

Before printing, we will discuss the price based on factors such as material, printing time, deadlines, cleaning, and whether the model will be shipped or picked up. Printing will begin once we reach an agreement. Any changes or design issues that arise during the process will incur additional costs.

Payment will be made via an invoice issued by Studio Zwartebanaan.

There are many different materials available for 3D printing. With Bambu Lab printers, many presets are already optimized, making it easy to print using Bambu Lab's own materials.

If you provide your own material or require adjustments for specific settings, the additional print time needed for testing and tweaking will be billed. Please note that only 1.75mm filament is compatible with our printers.

For a wider selection of materials, visit the Bambu Lab store. Ordering from Bambu Lab typically takes 10–14 days, while other suppliers may deliver faster. We can discuss the best option based on your needs.

Cleaning the model is your responsibility. However, if desired, we can discuss having it cleaned for you, which will incur additional costs.

Small objects are delicate and require extra care. If a small object breaks after being properly printed, it will be considered a design flaw.

3D printing can take considerable time, especially for larger models. Prints exceeding 256x256mm may need to be divided into parts or printed using the Creality CR-10 (420x420x420mm). Please note that the CR-10 is slower, which may increase the overall printing time.

If you have a specific deadline, we can discuss options to expedite the process.

Working locally is a great choice for eco-friendly purposes. Delivery is available for a small fee within a 3km radius by bike.

Picking up your order is always an option, but an appointment must be made in advance. Pickup without an appointment is not possible.

Shipping is also available, but additional costs will apply, including packaging.

To promote sustainability, we offer the option to ship using recycled boxes.

Your design remains your property. Designs will only be shared on Instagram, and only with the contributor’s consent if applicable.

Before using your design or photos for promotional purposes on the website, I will ask for your permission. If you later decide you'd like to make changes or have it removed, that request will, of course, be honored.

All 3D prints will be thoroughly checked and tested before shipment. However, please note that 3D prints, especially those made from PLA, may not be as durable as other materials. PLA is biodegradable, and after exposure to sunlight or heat, the material may degrade over time, typically within a few years.

Studio Zwartebanaan is not responsible for material degradation caused by environmental factors. Please handle and store your prints accordingly.

Some techniques may require additional space, and we are happy to discuss these needs on a case-by-case basis.

Designing beer tap handles is also part of the offerings at Studio Zwartebanaan. We are continuously working to improve our models to make them easier and faster to produce. Traditional beer tap handles are often sturdy but can be expensive, with prices typically around €150 each.

In 2023, I was approached to design a beer tap handle that is functional, affordable, and compatible with M8-M12 sizes, while also being available in a range of colors.

Prices may vary depending on design complexity and material selection.
Customizations are possible but may incur additional costs.
All tap handles are designed for standard M8-M12 fittings.

Design and Hourly Costs: Fees for designing and the time spent on each project.
Quantity of Handles: The total number of handles required may influence the price.

Complex Logos: Detailed or intricate logos may require additional time and resources, which can affect pricing.
Expanded Range of Models: Offering a wider variety of models may also impact overall pricing.
Optionally have a resin/lackerish finish for longer use.

3D printing offers great possibilities, but the choice of materials is crucial, especially for beer tap handles. These handles are made from biodegradable plastic, which means they can degrade over time. While this material may not be the most durable for long-term use, it is affordable and easy to produce.

The concept behind the beer tap handles is to offer a more cost-effective alternative to traditional designs, which can be expensive. This allows for variety in designs, enabling breweries to change the tap handles every few years—or even for each beer variety—without breaking the bank. This flexibility is especially valuable for small craft beer brewers.

The current design is made to last at least a few years, but it is still a work in progress. The design is continually evolving and improving over time.

The designs are continuously improving, becoming stronger and more refined. However, as with any product designed for frequent use, it must be handled with care.

While the design is built to be durable, it does have its limitations.

Currently, the maximum warranty for these products is 4 months, with an estimated lifespan of 2 years.

If any parts break or experience issues within the 4-month warranty period, the item will be reprinted or the design flaws will be corrected. For any other issues, please contact Studio Zwartebanaan directly.

After checking the problem of product it will be handled for reparation/reprinting/redesigning/money back warrenty.

Materials Used for This Design

The internal handle is made from high-quality PETG, while the outer part is printed with PLA, depending on the chosen color.

Please note that 3D prints are hollow inside and not 100% filled. While the print is designed to be strong enough for regular use, it’s important to handle it with care.
